We too have had +30C weather the last three days. I love this heat. It is suppose to continue throught to Wednesday.
I am sure Barb up there in Vernon has probably had enough. I heard it was around +40C.

I bought a 3 gallon needle from them two years ago and it came out in perfect condition.
It is thriving in my garden. They were a pleasure to deal with. I will be calling them on July 7th to order more.
Thanks for the heads up.

Looks great. How long has this taken you? I wish I had room for a greenhouse. But no such luck. Barb, I have a c. Panzi in direct sun all day. It has had one flush of one leaf and a small one too. Mine was planted out during last winter. Survived no problem but it is not producing a lot of new leafs.

I didn't think your area was a zone 7b. I really thought you were more like Nanaimo. If you keep it in the pots they are not as hardy unless you bring them inside or in a greenhouse. I would maybe for the first while keep them in an unheated greenhouse and only add heat during your very coldest nigh...

I have them grow from seed at my place and they are fine. They should do fine in your yard also. They are no guarantees but my guess is they would survive the winters outside there planted in the ground.

Those are chamaerops humilis not sabal minor. These do like full sun but are not hardy below zone 8 without protection. They develop multiple trunks and have very sharp spines. Nice palms though.

Livistona chinensis & Livistona decora
You are having problems with both these species? Obviously if you are having problems then there is no hope that they will grow here. With protection I know Livistona chinensis will grow here. There is a very large one here but it is in a very good midroclimate and will eventually out grow the area ...

Ask any palm questions you want. We have a lot of experience here on this board.
I live in North Vancouver BC by the water and I am in a zone 8b/9a wet winters and dry summer location.
Vancouver is loaded with palms especially trachycarpus fortunei, wagnerainus and chamaerops humilis.

I bought a good sized brahea armata at Maple leaf three years ago for $49. I wish I had bought more now if they are going for $150.00.
I will check out Cedar Rim on the weekend to see how much the jubs are.
I will let you know.

Congrats Dean,
I have quite a few seedlings myself. They are growing at a fairly good rate even though they spent the winter outside. A very hardy palm for zone 8 and up.

Zone 7 palms
For zone 7 you are at the low limit for a trachycarpus fortunei to go unprotected. As long as you are a solid zone 7 or even better zone 7b then you should be ok. Other palms that you could try is sabal minor, rhapidophyllium hystrix and perhaps some other sabal species like palmetto. I am in a zone...

Are very easy to germinate and they do not need heat. I have some falling of my large female and are germinating right in the ground. I haven't been above 14C in quite a while so that gives you an idea about heat for germinating trachycarpus seeds. As far as mold is concerned I found the best way is...

Yes it should be fine as long as it didn't suffer through too cold temps.
I don't know what your temps are like this time of year but once it warms up water and fertilize it. They like both and lots of it.

Don't throw it out. Just because the top growth is gone does not mean that it is a goner. They are very root hardy and you may find once the temps warm up that new growth will come out of the ground.
