You can transplant them any time as long as you don't damage the roots. They are like weeds here & you will find them in every crack and crevasse, they are a nightmare. :lol: I'm constantly pulling them out & throwing them in the trash.

Palmettos need a lot of heat in the summer. You may get them to live for a few years up north, but they will decline without the heat they require. Trachy is about your best bet.

Tim I'm not sure what the parentage is. A friend gave it to me. It has fruited since the first year & the seedlings from this plant do the same, they will start to flower @ about 1 ft tall.

Did I mention that Spanish dagger can become massive if you fertilize on a regular schedule... This was a two foot cutting I made three years ago. Barb citrus uptake at 5-1-3. Ph would depend on the rootstock, a good start is in the range of 6 - 6.5.

Anyone looking for Yucca ?

I have one outgrowing it's pot & my wife hates it because of the spines... $30 + shipping. I believe is a dwarf form of Spanish dagger. I'll get a photo up later tonight. I can also supply Spanish dagger cuttings to root @ $25 each and very good size. They root very easy & grow quickly.

Anything with poncirus has a very nasty after taste...

Papedas are about the next most hardy of the citrus family, but are full of seed and really not edible... The most hardy that is actually edible would be the Changsha mandarin & it is dry & full of seed.

Everything should pull through fine. A lot of burn from the January freeze but... Queens burned badly but they will come back.

Barb most we get is a dusting every ten years or so. I think 1989 was the last time we got something like this.

Nice plants Barb. I would watch the weather though, that Agave sisalana is not cold hardy and will melt with a heavy frost. I have two that I forgot & left out when we dropped to 24 F. They look like crap now, but should pull through.

The Washys will be fine and should be fully leafed back out by June. Wait until March and cut all but the emerging spear off & you'll be surprised how fast they leaf back out.

I always remove all the fronds of my sagos in early spring, burnt or not. It forces a new flush with nice new fronds. Also do the Tait's as well.

The two smaller queen palms I left totally unprotected seem to have survived just fine with us hitting a 15 degree low last night
It will take a little while, but queens can not take that kind of cold. You will see the fronds start to turn almost white soon. Mine burn in the lower 20's.
