Should I leave my Y. elata covered in leaves?

With all the wind that blew through today, alot of leaves got stuck in my yucca elata. I can't decide if this would increase or decrease its chance of survival. On the one hand, leaves insulate. On the other hand, it could trap moisture in the crown. Anyone know if it would be better to leave them or not?

I tend to remove the leaves from my elata.......but on the other hand I've never had any rot issues with my elata either and we get 4" of precipitation every month here......we are only zone 6b

If you do want to remove the leaves, save your fingers/bandaids...I use a shop vac.
Works like a charm unless leaves are huge.

elata is nothing compared to aloifolia! those spines are super sharp and rigid.......ouch!
