Photos like this make me realize that a palm unfurling a frond cannot compare to the same process on a cycad.
Outstanding photography.

Thanks Barb, Palms have their own beauty, I like them both
Now if it would warm up a little, I'd have some photos of Palm fronds opening

Great pictures Steve!
I snatched up a few cycad seeds in Florida, I might need to pick your brain about them later.

Steve,
This is what I got.
Dioon spinulosum, Macrozamia moorei, and coontie. There wasn't tons to choose from unfortunately.
I hope there still all good, I'll take a look at them tomorrow.

Bill, Sounds like a good selection!
If from this year's harvest, they should be ready to germinate this spring. Coontie seeds dry out pretty quick, is the fruit still on? That is the best way to store them.

Steve,
Yes the fruit is still on them, I'll take some pictures of them to show you what I'm working with.

Nice picture Steve.
Yippeeeeee, the young leaf is wavy.
You'll find that each of your five or six seedlings' leaves have their own distinct characteristics, and include varying degrees of waviness.
Are they all leafing out now?

Have a couple in the house that are stretched out from low light..........
Moved the majority out to the GH, the warmer weather is giving them a kick start now

You have such a knack with cycads (and other stuff), that yours will pass my year old c.debaoensis in no time.
I've got one that has a foot long leaf stem, so weak that it can't hold the petioles up, just leans over the edge of pot.
Moved all my cycads, etc. back inside from the plastic-barricaded patio...too cold overnight.

Despite its pale leaf margins (too little fertilizer I think), the wavy leaves are really starting to show with this flush, and larger leaves too:

Wow, Steve, have yours ever taken off, considering mine are a year older.
But that's not a surprise with your "cycad ability".
Very nice.
You'll be pleasantly surprised at the variations of waviness from plant to plant, as I was.

That's a nice one, Steve.
And, yup, yours have passed mine in size!
Is waviness increasing?

Barb, This one sits in a corner of the GH where it is ignored, the others I give more attention to are only half this size
The ones here all have a degree of waviness to the leaflets, perhaps more so with the ones in deeper shade?

Then I don't feel so bad about routinely ignoring mine's needs.
The deeper shade providing more leaflet waviness sounds like a good possibility.
Mine seem to hate any degree of sun.
Thanks for the updated pic.
