I got back late last night from trip to Lake Dallas to pick up my relative. I was so excited to go South and see some palms.
Had a GREAT trip that was a lot of fun.
Starting in Gainesville, Texas which is just right across the border from Oklahoma, I started to see some trunking yuccas that the littlest one was about 4' trunk.
The next town south from there is Sanger, Texas. Again Trunking Yuccas but they were getting more and more popular. I then saw a streetside Nursery in Sanger that had about 20-30 BIG trunking yuccas. I stopped to see if they had some smaller ones as the bigger ones, well the cheapest they had was $150 for a Rostrata that was only about 3' trunk. I was thinking that in Texas, where they were almost wild, they would be cheaper, I GUESS NOT!!! But they didn't have any smaller ones so I kept going to pick up the relative.
On the way, I took a road called "Garza St" or "Garza Lane" and i noticed a house had two very beautiful Butia Palms in the front yard.
That far North, one had NO, NONE, Nadda, damage from cold and the other had a little tiny bit of browning below but the new growth looked great.
If anybody elase lives around there, you might take the trip over to Little Elm, Texas and travel "Garza" and see if you can see them.
Anybody North of Dallas
