Mid summer pics.... Surviving fig, bamboo etc

A few additions this year. I planted a new F nitida, Honey locust "skyline", kay gray grape, hickory seedling, kentucky coffee tree seedling and as always my veggies. A few surprises even now!

Seedling apricot, 3rd year.



3 year old magnolia tripitala seedling. I cant believe this little guy has made it! More are popping up in the yard too!



The grape on the left is a zone 5 "niagra", and the one on the right is the flame grape we all love at the grocery store. Rated zone 6, and I had a foot of cane survive the winter. Its pushed 6 feet of growth.

Valiant grape in its third year. Anyone in a colder or cold climate should try this one.



My fig which was planted last year. Had almost a foot survive, and over a foot of growth this year

Barb, this is the flemish graft..... 3 feet of growth. I cant belive how much this thing grew. IF it survives the winter it should be bearing very, very soon!

Too bad about the rufa... They need deep snow to survive 'north' of zone 6, IMO. My biggest nitida had some culms killed but is recovering well, my rufa shrugeed the winter off and it flourishing... Sometimes the plants just make no sense!

We had 5 feet of snow, there was plenty of it. I think I uncovered it too early and it just got hammered. Didnt get a good pic of he alata, which is just going nuts. Il take the few inches of tip die off every year. As soon as I cn get to the ground/compost its getting fed.

Also, I wish my friends took a video of me in humber. Im pretty sure it was like a 5 year old in disney. Their discount plants are amazingly priced. If things go well I may take another trip next spring.
