Getting a needle palm

Im going to call broadway nurseries and I emailed them and they still had alot of Sabal minors & Needle palms. Im going to buy a 3 gallon so it will do better in the cold. 3 gallon costs $59 or $60.

This palm should survive our winter. But im still going to protect it. I have burlap, Heater,mulch, and a small weak structure.The sun should heat it up in the small house.It going to have a microclimate for it.

It really should work. I might buy a sabal & a needle too. Im going to see what one will do better.

Donnie where is the nursery the were imported from? I seem to think most needle palms come from Florida and will need some cold hardening off before planting. I am trying to talk my wife into just 3 more palms LOL ,and would order some myself before they are all gone.

Maybe from florida or extreme southern georgia. I really don't know becuase I did not ask them though. www.millionplants.com This nusery is in St.Catherines Ontario.The millionplants name is another name for broadway nurserys.
They do ship plants and they should still have some left.When you get the palm the booklet or card should tell you where its from.They have their phone number and their email address is tony@millionplants.com.

I agree you have to make a order from fast because they said something about no palms after 2006

That's expensive, mine is supposedly more than 3 gallon yet it was only $19 at my local Walmart.

picked up a needle from southcoast nursery in st williams(turkey point) for 30$ yesterday.They also carried all the other cold hardys starting at around 2o$.Its worth the drive as its minits from the beach and restaurants.Good day trip !!!I recall the owner saying he had a connection in north carolina so these palms have seen a little cold would be my geuss!!!

I totally agree with Willy1der! Consider South Coast Gardens, too. Kevin - the owner - confirmed the same to me, too. He goes down South once or twice on a shopping spree and gets a lot of stuff from North Carolina. Also, he experiments with a lot of things, so keep an eye on him! If you can manage it, try to buy as big palm as possible, not only for the sake of visual appeal, but also, to make use fo the established nutrient base stored in the plant....

anything still alive becomes an instant favorite.
