Canadian Desert Garden

Post by James in Fleetwood »

This is a quick video of my new desert garden in the Vancouver Area during its first winter. I know this is a temperate rainforest but who says I can't have a little bit of the southwest USA in my backyard.

Hi James!
The big agave is sure nice.
I bought some of that little blue grass...think the nursery called it Mondo Grass?

No reason at all to not have some SW flavour in the PNW!
Good rain protection.
Not much rain for you folks this winter?

Any time you want more Opuntia from the Okanagan...my dog's paws always find them.

Thanks for posting it.

Always nice to see other desert gardens. 8) Love the rain cover. :D

I think the grass might be fescue of some kind?

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Thanks for the suggestion. Frankly, i has never heard of this plant but based on what I read on wikipedia it seems perfectly suited for my garden. The problem will be finding some.

James, I believe Beaver Creek Greenhouses has a supply of them.
