Outstanding how well that FxW trunk-cut has grown.
Looking at it, you'd never guess what it and others have been through.

Oh! Too much to take in all in one view. I'll go back for seconds later.
First impressions: as Barb says, great Chammy "cerifera" : I'll have to try another one.
Huge Brugmansia leaves. As you say, who cares if they even bloom? But I bet they will, spectacularly.
Gunnera: wow. Still waiting to see how they handle midwest heat, but then again, we've had that already.

It seems we have had a reversal of fortune here in MN... I'm lucky if I have seen 3 hours of sun in the past week! It's not that it has been cold or anything, nothing under 60f, but no damn sun! Tons of rain, we have seen about a whole summer's worth of rain in the last 30 days. No sign of the pattern changing for the next several days either. My plants were on the same track as yours until this stupid lack of sun streak! Basjoos look good but have gone from putting out a new leaf every two days to putting one out on about a one-a-week schedule now. Itinerans just sitting and doing nothing since going in ground last week. Trachies look great though and are moving well. My washy seems to have finally taken off again too with a complete new fan open and 1/2 of another in the past 7 days. Strange as the washy seems to like it hot and sunny. Everything else looks good but it seems that the rapid growth has slowed to a crawl. Wierd weather once again...

Yea Paul the Castors are a trip,these should be absolute monsters as they are at least a month ahead of last year as you can see from the pics.
I don't think they are the same as the big leaves ones from last year but I have some(pictured)with 4 o'clocks.

Once the Itinerans get their roots established they really take off,seems like they can put there whole leave out in 2 days.
As you can see from the pics they fully put out a leaf in 4 and are really increasing in size big time with each one-
I think the only ones faster are the Black Thai-Bill has some for sale,I highly recommend them!-and Bill

He's a good guy.

You sure have had the right weather to make everything pop off there. Tropical rain and Hot will do it everytime

I can't wait to see what those castors do in another month or two as with everything else. I think this year is going to be a good one for heat and rain.

I just hope Barb and Johns weather improves soon so they can join in on the fun.

Seems like everytime I look at Barb's weather sticker it says 51-52-53-

lately it's been 68ish hopefully things are improving.

More rain last night,haven't looked yet but I'm guessing at least 1-2"
and now the sun is returning-unbelievably tropical weather!

O.k. 2.28" of rain yesterday,this is getting goofy as heavy rain will move in later today.

I would not be to surprised to see 6" more of rain before we possibly get a few days
off from the rain by Wednesday.
Last time this happened I started losing cactus and this go around may just be worse.

I carried it upstairs and potted it up in my room

-
it was in a west window all winter and grew about 6 leaves.
All the leaves on it now are new from spring planting.

This winter it gets stored in the basement with any Bananas big enough.

you beat me with rain. I got away with only 2.5" yesterday.

I didn't see standing water in your shots. That's a sign of great soil prep.
Calla lilly: I feel like a broken record, but yet again a plant I have not had luck with. One came back this spring but then died away before it did much.
Gunnera: keep it up! That would be so cool if you could grow one. Way beyond my skill, but I'll admire yours.

Erik if your Calla lily disappeared it could be from snails/slugs-
mine were moving along nicely and then started to disappear-slugs

One of mine came up from the bulb that I must have missed when I dug it up.
I am going to sneak outside as the sun is out,this may be our shot to pop 80
for the 24th day in a row!

BTW
The Gunnera actually has done well in the hot weather(90ish)as
long as I water it everyday-not a problem lately!
