Mark you are the MAN! Let me commend your wife as well, what a amazing women to put up with your palm addition like that! How cool is your living room in the winter, how a bout Florida All year!!!! Nice job! I feel your pain I have some heavy thing I need to take care of within the next three to four weeks.
Holy smokes buddy !... That would not happen at my place. I'm sure I wouldn't do it either.
Soooo, how ya gonna water those queens all layed over like that? They must be heavy s.o.b.'s to move around, ya?
Very nice collection you have there.
No wife. Got Divorced last year and shes been out for a few. The palms had nothing to do with it.
The palm move was actually not as bad as I thought it would be. Rented a massive 4 wheel dolly for $9. Worked great with me and 2 other guys up the hill from the back to the front door and in horizontally.
Barrie,
Ah yes. The watering is a challenge on the 45 * angle but I get it done carefully. Can't really move them around now. 400lbs.
with all due respect and jealousy, just when I think I'm palm nuts someone comes along and posts pictures like this. looks like you got some wintertime fun working just keeping your palm nursery going. Good luck Mark. great pics.
If they gave prizes for palm nuts, I think you would win. However...I'm getting an idea of where to put a large saguaro.

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Large one leaning the opposite way from last year. My smaller one stood up straight against the ceiling last year but don't think that it will this year. I may try to stand it upright. My larger one grew a bit crooked last winter and has almost straightened out. Should correct itself leaning opposite this winter. We'll see.
They were kind of sad and scrawny when I got them but large. I'd seen them at Flower shop in town in the summer. Then over the winter I kept trying to get a hold of the owner of them to see if he's sell them. Finally in May 2007 I got the 2 of them for $100. They've grown about 3.5 feet and many new fronds since then.
Hey, since you're a bachelor (and don't need to ask anyone) have you considered cutting a hole in your ceiling (= an atrium) that goes right up through your, say, master bedroom?
I've thought of it...and husband said NO. Twice!
Damn.
Sorry I missed this reply. Yes I have thought about putting on a Glass roof or some atrium of sort. Maybe someday. $$
Till then I'll just do what I have to.
