Sorry I didn't get around to this earlier.

Here's some recent pics of some my yuccas.

Jay! Looking good.

You're brevifolia is about the same size as mine was when it finally had had enough! The recurv's are very nice! And that rostrata will be an impressive specimen in a couple years!

The one in the last picture. I would have guessed Yucca elata, but, 1) they don't bloom at that size. and 2) The bloom stalk is far to small to be elata, and branches too low... So what is it? Y. thompsoniana?

Not exactly sure. When I bought the yucca the tag just said soap tree yucca. I'm thinking a glauca?

That sounds right! It is a lovely specimen of the species if it is!

Thanks. This one really likes that spot. It was only a one gallon size when I planted it about two years ago.

John, the ones in the last three pics are in my front yard and honestly haven't fed them anything.
That's been a good spot for them. I have not even lost any cactus over the winters in that spot.

Jay, very nice. Now if only the garden centres would understand they need to expand their plant selections because these plants do grow here.

Don't worry Bill, Hanging around here you will learn all about yuccas.

I wish garden centers around here and in colder climates would stock
more of these plants. Would make it a lot easier for all of us.

Mine are just now starting to recover from the brutal winter we had last year...strange, huh?

There's something about a rostrata that appeals to everyone! Beautiful.

Bill, we'll get you into yuccas in no time.
Your place might have a corner you'd want to xeriscape.

A friend of mine a few towns over has two beautiful rostratas about 6 feet high. That said they do fine here in my climate with no protection. Maybe I'll see if I can get my hands on one next year. Can you transplant them easily? I plan on moving sometime soon. I think I have a adams needle maybe? It a tough bugger. I dug it up this spring and left it in a 30 gal. bucket for a month or two during my restructer and now it looks better than ever. Go figure?

Not to ask a stupid question but is the rostrata the 5th picture next to the rock? My yucca looks like the one in the second to last picture, not the front one.
