Butia with Suckers?

Post by Kansas »

Too late and dark for a pic for tonight, but one of my Butia trees that I dug up from Florida and potted up about 2-3 years ago has what looks to be suckers (pups) growing out of the trunk.
I'll take pics tomorrow, but has anybody heard of this?

No? Could it be a date palm of some sort? :|

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Butia does not sucker. The seed has three spots where it can germinate from. Sometimes you will get germination from one, two or all three spots creating three separate plants.

I've learned so much reading Laaz's posts in the past two weeks.
