Navel Orange in the GH, just starting to change color.

nice job Steve. How many do you have ripening? you know if you eat those you can fight off scurvy which is a vitamin C deficiency. Lucky you.

I have a meyer lemon tree I moved inside last weekend and it has about 8 good sized lemons on it. Do you think I'll be able to get the lemons to turn yellow ? or the real question, What's the secret to getting them to turn yellow?

I have about a dozen total, some are smaller, but they all seem to be ripening at the same time now. Might be the shorter daylight interval that triggers ?

Check one before you harvest them all. Navels turn orange well before they are truly ripe. I just tested one Tuesday, sweet but still not really ripe. Still very hard to peel as well.

Wait till spring & I'll bud you up some good varieties.

Laaz, any idea on when I might see an "orangeening" of my Valencia? They are about 3/4ths the size of a mature Valencia, but I don't when I can look for "Orange"

Wes Valencia usually start ripening in late Feb - Early Mar. In your colder zone may take a bit longer.

While it was only 5*F out this morning, I was able to harvest the rest of the Oranges in the GH. Life is good

( so were the Oranges !

You did great Steve ! I just finished the last of my navels tonight.

Barrie hows you Key lime doing ? Mine is loaded with about 300 flower buds right now. Looks really funny as I forgot to put it in th garage the night we dropped to 24 f & it lost a ton of leaves, but it is still pushing loads of flower buds...

I just checked my valencia, and the oranges are still green and the size of "clementine" oranges, but I did see 4-5 new batches of new leaves, so it IS still going.
