I am growing Abyssinian from seed( about 80 and counting...I dont know why). I have Bordelon, and some kind of cavendish. I just got today corms for Enano Gigantica, Zebrina and,Goldfinger. Very excited about the new additions. I am expecting 5, 5 gallon Musa velutina in may as well as musa merelli and musa basjoo in may. Mid april I am awaiting Manzano, vanilla bean and Williams......I may be running out of space in the house by then. My wife is so far patient ... but that may be starting to run out

Cedardave, great pics of great plants. Those bananas are showing good growth, nice crop of new and existing palms.
Is your GH freestanding or attached to house?
Now there's an alternate use for beer "go" cups!
How's winter been in Winnipeg for your plants?

Barb,
The green house building is freestanding about 10 feet from the house. Its not a true greenhouse in that it is really just a building I made for a hottub , that had the added benifit of the corrugated plastic panels on the roof and walls. It is a great pre humidified(thanks to the tub) building that I use spring summer and fall to extend my growing season a bit. The beer cups work great. If you cut a few drainage holes on the bottoms they are a cheap way to pot the seeds up. I rest them in a plastic food storage container and away we go. The winter here was ok early on, but the last few weeks everything has started to show signs of being tired of indoors. Mexican fans in particular . One has just the newest unopened leaf left, the larger of the two had 2 open leaves but browning and bad looking, but has 2 new leaves well on there way. I think everthing is anxious for more light and fresh rain water.

The spindle palm has about 18 inches of trunk. This was a lucky find at Home Depot that they had yet to water to death. It seems to be recovering nicely.

cedardave, what a good idea...a hot tub and all those palms around. And that humidity! No wonder the palms love it. Man, you'd forget you were in Winnipeg! Re the beer cups, excellent. I use the large styrofoam coffee cups, good too, but they tend to be a bit top heavy.
It's been a long winter, and most plants look tired and ready for the real thing outside. I've been moving tender stuff in and out every day; will be glad when that ritual is over. But -5 predicted for April 3 so can't rush.
That HD is a good resource if you dig around in the "forgotten corners"...Nice find.
Save some of those beer cups for the real thing
