We haven't had much rain although it's likely more than our average for this time of year. Temps have been cool 16c to 21c (60f - 70f) and many overcast or partly sunny days. The heat we had 3 weeks ago seems like a distant memory. I for one am getting a little anxious for sunny warm days again.
I lived in southern Ontario (Lampton county) in the late 60's and know how hot and humid it can get.

Very nice Barrie. Especially the Cassia. I'd love to be able to grow it here.

You don't have to be crazy to grow palms in Alberta..... But it helps

The yellow blooms aren't Cassia they're Morrocan Broom - Cytisus battanderii. They have ripe Pineapple fragrance.

I like the heat and all, but if you saw the lawns around here you would know what I mean.!!!!
The dirt is like dust and the ponds are getting low. Good thing we are in the middle of all the great lakes!

My grass goes brown and dormant every June. It's greener than usual right now but is showing the start of that summer phase that lasts until late October. It greens up in about a week once the rains begin again. Some summers are so dry that some native trees begin to stress and die off in extreme cases.

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.
