Full on exotics

Post by Barrie »

This home in the Hammond Bay area of North Nanaimo (Vancouver Island) is loaded with exotica. The photo doesn't do it much justice since there's more than the camera can capture or detail. Likely the most cacti planted on one city property than I've seen in these parts.

Cheers, Barrie.

Barrie that pic really should make more people stop in their tracks as to what can be grown here. Do you know the people?

That place looks great. With the sloping property like that the drainage must be perfect for cacti.

That is as good looking as any yard anywhere.

You don't have to be crazy to grow palms in Alberta..... But it helps

I don't know the owners but intend on knocking on their door sometime soon. Exchange plants, take photos, chat etc.
That whole area is reasonably new (10 years or less) since being developed and more homes are going in all the time. I noticed plenty of palms and good sized 6' - 8' Yucca recurvefolia that get regular grooming from the yard maintenance companies. That's one business that is never short of work around here.

Cheers, Barrie.

Maybe they'd be interested in joining this forum, and can share some of their expertise.
Thanks for posting that pic (*drool*)
