So far no real winter weather yet, lows only reaching 27F. Most plants are doing well, speacially the variegated agaves.

Thanks for looking.
Everything looks pretty great...is it staying dry there?
Seems like we get an inch or two of rain every week
but very mild - bigger Trachys still out.

Thanks Cuja1, that is a trichocereous. I have another you can see in the distance behind agave ovatifolia.
Jim we have had record rain here. Almost 20" in 3 months, and just when I think we are drying off so I can cover everything. The bottom falls out today while Im at work.
Nice to here the trachies are still out. I have about 20 potted palms still out in the back yard including my butia.

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Would be cool to have some kind
of automatic hidden cover for the cacti
that can open like a doom stadium roof when
rainfall is excessive.

I could install one of those canopies with an electric motor. Would not be a dome but would provide cover from frost and precip. Would be worth it too considering i still have 2 manfredas fully leafed out and a aloe blooming. Not even sure of the aloe sp. tag said hardy aloe. Whats funny is I planted a echinocereus cristata thinking it would be a test plant. It has not been touched yet, but I lost a trachy from the polar vortex.
Hopefully we a finished with winter weather. The last 2 events have been solid ice for me.

Started working on a new raised bed today. Will take till May probably to finish off with the plants since I won't plant till temps warm up. Here is the border. Will start adding soil/granite on Monday.

Since my last up date, seems damage has shown up on several plants. Including theocactus, agave wocomahi, agave cream spike(dead), agave elodie (dead ), agave havardiana ( dead ). My only two losses in the test bed agave victoria-reginea and aloe boylei.

Thank you chadec. I have relatively similar Agave, Agave macroculmis that I raised from seed ordered from Mesa Garden. It's borderline 7b/8a Agave.

Very nice agave, I have one that I ordered from a member at Agaveville. After seeing these in bloom here in N.C. I thought I my give it a chance. Macroculmis is no longer a proper name since they were originally misidentified by Gentry. I believe what was sold as Macroculmis is now gentryi. But who cares if it looks really cool, right.
