We're stuck in an inversion...a fog soup in the valleys that keeps frost stuck to all the plants and temps below freezing.
All while people are skiing 2,000 feet up the nearby mountain, in bright warm sunshine and getting tans.
May have to go for a drive up there just to get some Vit D.
As long as you folks don't get another Hurricane...

it is cold here too, but probably a bit less, but windy as hell coming off the delaware bay , down here now...painting and ripping out cabinets in the kitchen, new electric service and floors go in soon...yay then the new kitchen goes in
We are heading into the next arctic friggin' blast today but at least we are expecting ten inches of snow to help cover things this time around. The last time, it got warm (60) f the day before and rained like hell, melting all the snow. Then the ground froze hard and long...ugh. At least, this time the snow cover should help cover things a bit.....Have I yet said how much I hate winter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No snow here since 3 weeks ...but bariely cold, now its -30c ....we had at least 8-10 nights Under the -20c mark, never saw that since a lot of year. Normally we have 4-5 night Under -20c in a normal winter. But this year its amazing...no nights over -25c till saturday ....high between -17c to -20c in the day.
Dawn it, where s the global warming
Sorry to hear of the that continuing dreadful Weather some of you are having. That wonderful jet stream has kept the UK relatively mild. So mild that my Musa Basjoo is opening new leaves and my beloved Beschorneria Albiflora has started to flower... in January not good
Musa Basjoo
Tree ferns.... Dicksonia Antartica ... still happy and relatively green
The Cycas Revolta enjoying all the rain.
I hope it warms up for you soon... but not too soon as we'll get all that crap then

Love that Tree Fern AndyM!
Strangely enough temperature wise it was a mild winter in most parts of Western Europe but it was a very long Winter that went on until May. My minimum was -7C but many parts of the UK were much milder than my inland climate
The beast from the east is not currently far away from us though and in 2011 I had a -11C from its last visit http://www.wetteronline.de/tiefsttemper ... rte/europa
Glad you liked the tree ferns, both are around 6ft tall.
when is that January meltdown? I got enough of this:
The US is set for its coldest month this century after weeks of sub-freezing temperatures.
The Daily Mail reported:
America is set for the coldest month of the century as weather forecasters predict yet another freezing blast of Arctic air – putting Super Bowl Sunday in jeopardy.
Teams have been warned to stay on high alert for changes to the scheduling of the first Super Bowl to be played in an open-air stadium.
Temperatures have already hit record lows, at times making parts of the U.S. colder than the North Pole, and are expected to plunge in the coming days.
The timing could not be worse for one of the biggest global sporting events, which will be exposed to the full force of the elements at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on February 2.
It is ridiculous, should moderate this week after Thursday here in the east coast....... Warmer today but then plunging again for tow days tonight!!!!!! I shall never post a January forecast model that predicts a warmer than average January, and if I ever find the meteorologist who predicted that, it shall be a slow and painful_______________....LOL!!!!!!!
Brrr...I sure hope you all warm up in the east, and the west, been in cold fog for a week.
Shoshone Idaho weather

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Yeah, and its not looking good for the next 2 weeks. There s a map from Environment Canada. And they are right almost all the time. Look, almost all the earth continent are below the normal temp. and the ocean still above
AND EVERYWHERE ELSE IS WAY ABOVE NORMAL!!!!! AHHHHH!!!!!
Even the damned arctic sea ice is below normal extent overall, it being way beyond normal in NA is more than made up for by the mild winter on the other side of the world...
Worse then '93-94'? Probably not here. Worse then the early 80's? Probably not.
