Holy cow, 17 leaves for the Washy this season?
Incredible!

What's your take on Takil's hardiness?
Nowhere near regular T.fortunei's hardiness?

For sheer beauty, Princeps wins hands down. :D

It'll be interesting to see how much hair grows back, and when, on the fire trimming.

Not bad huh???

Bill said one of his put out 34!

T.Takil should not only be (guessing)more consistently hardy
compared to Fortunei but also may be more leaf hardy-meaning
even the leaves can take more cold before damage occurs so,possibly
a Trachy that may be undamaged(leaves)by single digits (F)

Won't be anything to fire trim on the Fortunei until it grows more trunk...
if you look close, you can see that all the fibers on Trachy trunks are actually
shredded ligules that once were the sheathes between the new leaves. :)

If there were only 2 plants I could keep in the yard,I think
one would be the Sequoia and the other would have to be the Princeps...
these 2 more than any others are the most captivating when looking into the future..
maybe even the T.Ferns,I think a Brownii or Cooperi with 10-15' fronds would be a
pretty amazing sight to come upon anywhere but in Iowa?

Great way to look at it, Jim.
Agree entirely.

Bill's "34-leaves" Washy must be planted over the septic tank.
That'd be delightful to see.

Bill's Washy
I keep coming up with more than a leaf a week-no matter how I do the math on that-
probably faster than my Banana plants!-LOL
