Moving away from zone 8b...

...and into the tropics! I decided that since I'm young and don't have a stable career or family, I'll work as an English teacher overseas for a while. That way I can see the world while building up my savings. This will be my climate for the near-future:

Now I'm wondering what to do with my plants here in Seattle. Somehow I can't bear to throw them out.

Some will be kept with friends and some will be sold/given away.

Hard to do a move like that..... but ho chi min is basically smack dab in the middle of the asian forests/rainforests...... I think youll be sending home thousands of seeds in the first few months

I hope it goes well, i know a few people who have done this. Some in Laos, some in japan, some in korea... all of them said they absolutely loved it....

At this stage in my life, it's much easier to do a big move compared to years from now. I can pack light and go alone without any problems.

I'm going to try and have some interesting houseplants over there for sure. How about a potted Cyrtostachys renda?

Robocaesar, one part of my envies you, the other worries about your at-home plants.

What an opportunity.
And you're right...do it while young.
Impossible to do when older and tied down.

Perhaps I'll need to put a grow light in a refrigerator there so I can grow some temperate houseplants!

I'll post some pictures on this forum once in a while. Even though I won't be looking at many cold hardy palm trees as much, I still sure love to grow things!
