Ah Beny, I can tell you have never been to alberta lol. I cant remember the scientific name, but I remember them being called "popcorn clouds" or simply "hail clouds". In calgary you seen these once a week in the spring-fall, and almost always mean powerfull low pressure systems with, you guessed it, hail. Also heavy rains, severe storms, and something like a 40$ chance of the system rotating (tornadic system). I think they usually happen when warm and cold air clash, but usually in hot summer temps. If you were further ahead of the system, you may see something similar to this:

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

I seen them all the time in alberta, but in N ontario, I only remember seeing them that profound oncel when tornadoes came through, during a massive weather bomb. So you could imagine the thoughts running in my head when I seen them for the first time out west.... then the second.... then thrid.... LOL
