My figs always do well here in NJ. Never ever wrapped them. They are all over in Jersey. Lots of Italians in this region that brought them over from italy. They have become so hardy over the years. My two varieties are also from Italy. The black bird is a Cormorant. They travel through here every year in migration. Here is a better pic I shot of one.

Good! I just remember your lows dropping pretty far. Chicago hardy fig is apparently from mt etna...

Yes! That is a better pic. We have a family of them here, was 4 the last 2 years, might be more this year. They live my the floodway near my house (im less then a mile from lake superior). I see them every morning in the same light post, kicking seagulls off in the process. Theyre pretty interesting birds and apparently a sign of decent water...

Yeah, they are beautiful. I love to see them sunning their wings. I read they do not have oils on their feathers like water fowl, so they need to dry their wings. Makes for a good show.

Pics look like an alien world-last year the Tulips were done by April 1.

It has been so cold here none of them have even opened yet,that includes
Forsythia and c
Crab apple tree blooms,just relentless cool temps/and now,constant rainfall
already approaching 4" for the month and the heavy stuff isn't even here yet!

We have a 34 F (+1 C) in the forecast for later this week. VERY tired of shuffling pots in and out.

But will 34 really affect your stuff? Esp if it is on the deck or porch close to your condo??

Probably not. I'll slide the bottle palms and other tends close to the wall.

I guess I'm assuming that there is a clear line at 32 F / 0 oC where all is well as long as plant tissue stays above. Is that correct?

yeah, don't sweat it...give them some shots of Jameson before you go to bed, they'll do well
