Uncovered the Washy today-nice growth over the winter pushing up some new leaves...

Also.....I wasn't very nice to this A.Americana,it saw 22F a few times last fall and was burned...then,
wheeled into the dark basement with no planter and kept in the dark-in spite of this it should recover
and will hopefully put out the usual 10-15 leaves this summer.

Heres a picture of the variegated Aloifolia,it gets an extra color this time of year with the cold and intense sun and ends up a tri-color Aloifolia......
<a href="http://s297.photobucket.com/user/orbea6 ... 3.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... 93bc23.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 100_6380_zps9893bc23.jpg"/></a>
One last thing,I checked on one of the Amorphophallus konjac and Philodendron "Hope",the corpse lily is still solid
and appears to have overwintered outside in the ground with a layer of mulch-the P.Hope is also solid and with a little luck
will sprout from the side or below near the root system...time will tell.....thanks for looking!

Oh Jim, that Washy's more gorgeous than I remember.
How it must be enjoying the sun!!!!
Glad it's finally free.
Not nice to be mean to the Agave...it'll double in size this year.
So no dark basement...
Congrats on the other stuff that made it nicely under the mulch.
Love the tri-color!

Thanks ya'all.....the Aloifolia was in the cactus cover so...not left out really.
Barb
I was a little surprised at how it came out,the leaves were wrapped up with plastic(bags
)ties..the ones that were touching the plastic cover/ outside protection had black moldy fungus on
them, the other were fine-we'll see how it looks in the morning after temps tonight in the
22-24F range0maybe the last freezing temps of the season with any luck!

Yeah, I've noticed that with mine too, even previously when they were in better protection than this year.the ones that were touching the plastic cover/ outside protection had black moldy fungus
22-24F? Yuck!
That's a tad cold for having just been opened up.
Hoping that spring and some heat finally arrives after what you've been through the last month.

BTW Jim, will you be planting any Castors again this year? Mine are getting really big and healthy indoors. I'll plant them outside this weekend.

I just ordered some seeds,I also have 3 from the bigger leaved variety soaking right now.
Be careful of temps anywhere near freezing outside, they are very sensitive when small.

I did cover it with a small plastic pot, foot of mulch and pine needles.
I also saved part of it and brought it inside-I was a little late covering the one outside so we'll see what happens...
I checked all the Amorphophallus konjac(corpse lily) and every one of the bulbs has made it through the winter outside!
