White Rock British Columbia Palms
Here are some palm pics I took last weekend along Marine Drive White Rock B.C. Seems like every 4th house had some palms.

It was a walk along Marine Drive that convinced me to try growing Palms. We were there in March 2006. The weather was overcast windy and cold. I figured that if they could survive in White Rock, I could find a way to make them survive in Edmonton.
Very nice pics. It must have been at least partly sunny when you took them.

You don't have to be crazy to grow palms in Alberta..... But it helps
I do like the form of the one pictured in the second photo!
"I figured that if they could survive in White Rock, I could find a way to make them survive in Edmonton."
Now there's the power of positive thinking at work.
My positive thinking is no where near as strong as yours Allen. LOL!
Cheers, Barrie.

Barrie that second palm was my favorite of the bunch I took pics of,reminds me of a washy a little .It looks like their gardener trims the bottom brown tips off the fronds. Allen it rained buckets last Sat. The pics were taken on Sat and Sun. All that rain reminds me why I moved to the Okanagan.

John, thanks for those great pics. I also like the look of that second pic palm with its straight-as-an-arrow trunk. It's so clean looking, presumably November's huge windstorm would've torn all the old leaves off?
Allen, I love your theory...if it grows in White Rock, it might grow in Edmonton!!! Attaboy!
Isn't that Marine Drive area "something" !!!
And, John, it's still raining buckets on the Wet Coast.
That IS why we moved to the Okanagan. Now 30 years later, I actually miss hearing the water in the eaves/downspouts!

Those palms look good considering White Rock gets strong winds off the ocean.
Allen, there is a slight difference between White Rock winters and Edmonton ones but good on you for thinking positively.

Tropical White Rock
Jay and Allen the beach walk and ocean pier is awsome they have done alot of changes in the last 20 years. The shops and beachfront restaurant and bars remind me of Mexico with sunnier skies of course. A special part of greater Vacouver.
