Kiss H's Gravel Bed goodbye

H hates weeds so he gravels everything on top of that horrible landscape cloth.
Had my eye on that area for a while because it gets so hot in summer.

While he was away today, planted Chamaerops humilis cerifera (nearest), unknown trunking yucca (hope it's an elata), one of the brahea armata twins (tented) and the unknown agave/furcraea.

another y.rostrata, 2 big mama yuccas yet to plant in there.

Plants sure looked bigger when the pots were above ground

Good for you Barb. It will be a wonderful gravel bed of plants. I am so happy to see you have ground planted your Brahea armata. I checked in on mine outside today and it looks wonderful. It's box will come off in one or two weeks.

Adam, glad to hear your B.armata is doing great; look forward to seeing it out in the air again.
I have 2 (the twin to this one), so will see how much space is left.

In my mind I already see this area in 10 years

You could build a green-house over the top just like Jim does.

But make sure you leave a place for a lounge chair.

Too bad you can't get some little hardy barrel cactus to plant in there-you would love the flowers Barb!

That will make an excellent desert bed for sure!

Yup, Andy, that's one of the twins, looked fine with the spear pushing before I planted it in the ground.

Looks good! I like the look of gravel beds as long as they have plants in them. Especially desert plants.

I enjoy watching the Arizona desert golf tournaments for that reason.
Such an attractive landscape from -- well -- grass.

...been called lots of things, but never little.

Not planting any more in that gravel bed right now...cooldown coming starting tonight.
Dammit (again).

But at least weather's better than what has befallen Europe lately.

Those poor people.

The weather channel said that if all the cars involved in crashes during recent snowstorms in Germany were lined up, it would be 1,000 kms of carnage.
