Some pics on a mild March day/update on Graptopetalum

Post by hardyjim »

The small Grapto held on for a while-like that little dog in the movie Vacation that was tied to the bumper.....don't know if you can make them out among the Ice plants.

<a href="http://s297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... c36b33.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... c36b33.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Some were covered with a popcorn popper lid-no heat...winter minimum low of -4F.

<a href="http://s297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... 88bb7a.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... 88bb7a.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

These did better, the one on the right is mushy the one on the left still solid and the babies look healthy still!

I think with some moisture cover these could be hardy to at least z6!

The Trichocereus terscheckii made it.

Oh what eye candy, Jim.

The C.humilis cerifera is getting so blue, gorgeous.
Great Princeps beside it too.

I cannot take my eyes off that Waggie and the spear it's pushing.

Everything looks great.
Glad you've got some Grapto under cover.

Today's sun would really heat up that dark mulch/soil.
Is your soil probe registering temps?

Its been broke for a while-like me,I need to get a new one.

The weather has generally been so chilly,I would not dare pull the mulch back
as the X-mas lights are still in place-just not sure what the hell these temps are going to do.

Everything looks great. Love that waggie, wish mine would start growing. That cactus bed looks exactly like it did last summer.

Me2 Tim-looking forward to seeing how much that sucker grows this year!

Thanks Chad

It took my Waggie a few years before it took off...

Igor

It is nice to have them back out-they are getting the odd nice day
here and there...snow may be back Monday-at least a little-rest of the
week looks chilly after that...polar opposite of last years +15F over average-
the airport was somewhere around 21/35F so far, about 15F below average....
better at my place, probably about 26/43F for the month so far-we may be lucky
to come anywhere near that next week-looks like 10-15F below average still
