Princeps divides leaves early?

Post by lucky1 »

Here's a Princeps germinated last winter...9 months old.

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/southslope/8145955203/" title="008 by edible_plum, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8325/8145 ... d3a262.jpg" width="375" height="500" alt="008"></a>

And another Princeps seedling, partially divided:

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/southslope/8145984294/" title="009 by edible_plum, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8335/8145 ... f05855.jpg" width="375" height="500" alt="009"></a>

Waggie seedlings aren't showing divided leaves yet, and they're a season older.

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/southslope/8145951895/" title="010 by edible_plum, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8335/8145 ... 87c7c3.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="010"></a>

Could this mean that Princeps matures faster?

A princeps should've followed you home.

Hope Bill's greenhouse survived Sandy's winds.

Wow those divide quick! How fast do standard fortunei divide? I have 300 seedling trachys right now on their 3rd or 4th leaf and still are strap.

It didn't get as bad there as they thought at first-storm mostly went south.

Hi Barb,

Bill's greenhouse did fine in the winds. His bananas got trashed.

They usually put on their color around the time they divide-in direct sunlight.

I'll look forward to seeing that color appear.

But first it's going into the cold building for 5 months...poor thing.
