It’s been a crazy summer for me so I have not been as attentive to my gardens but things are still going strong. Sorry for the picture quality (used my iPhone).

Banana getting bigger and bigger

Kinda wish the banana never flowered. It has stopped growing in height since the flower arrived so I am tempted to cut it off soon.

Great update as usual, Ryan! That Aucuba looks especially healthy. Are Plumerias readily available in your area?

Yeah Cameron. They're actually on sale right now at rice road greenhouse so if you want I can pick one(or more) up for you. They are super easy to take care of and overwinter.

Thanks Ryan, but I actually have six Plumeria plants right now!

The only reason I was asking is because I haven't seen them for sale in this area before.

Can you please elaborate a little, how do you take care of them during the winter. I have a few and they always loose all their leaves during the winter. The grow again in the spring but only from the top, so in time they end up with long branches with leaves only on top. Inside, they are also a magnet for white flies.

I simply take it out of the ground after the first frost and pot it. It stays in my garage and I give it ONE cup of water half way through the winter. Come April it goes back in the ground and by May it flowers.

Nice garden pictures there. Your Plumeria looks much better than mine. Your Musa zebriana also looks very happy with the inflorescence.

Bananieru, it is normal for Plumerias to drop their leaves during winter, however there may be some species or varieties that are evergreen in tropical climates. Plumerias are also prone to rot during winter so after they lose their leaves they should be kept on the dry side.

Yes the Plumeria drops most of its leaves.
