This cactus was overwintered outside with no heat added, just covered with a tarp to keep the humidity away.
It's the first flower
Also it looks like opuntia will have lots of flowers

A week or two and that Opuntia will burst for sure. Love the Echinocereus! They from Beavercreek?

Yes Paul, I bought 10 different ones from Beaver Creek Greenhouses and they all survived he winter.

Nice! If you stop protecting them from moisture you will have losses, but will be left with 100% hardy plants (which can seed and spread in the garden)!

my complete 'desert area'. Have no idea what am I going to do if opuntia continues to grow in the same way. On the other hand it's the one with the most flowers so far.

Hey! That's Opuntia macrorhiza. IMO it is the best performing Opuntia in my garden, it never shows damage of any kind (every other type does, at least on occasion). Man do I ever love cactus blooming season!
