Yucca trade forum
Hello everyone. I have some Yuccas I can trade out... Yucca thompsoniana (3 yr old), yucca glauca (3yr old and a couple 3 yr rooted cuttings of trunking version), a couple yucca brevifolia (3 yr old), yucca elata (2 yr old), a few sabal louisiana and pindo palms (1.5 yr old).
What I am looking for: yucca mature from seed or cuttings:
yucca gloriosa green, yucca aloifolia green and purpurea, yucca recurvifolia, yucca trecueleana canaliculata.
I would love to trade with you if you have what Yuccas are on my here want list... Let me know if you want what I have and we can arrange it. I ship plants and receive.plants in international mail very often, just bare root.
Cheers, Adam

on larger plants, as in the video, but after wrapping in plastic, wrap again in newspaper. Label on the newspaper the species (in case it gets inspected)
In bubble wrap package or box (small as possible), mail out.
Call it worth = $5.00 no more, or duties and perhaps taxes are due.
Call it "gift" and/ or "gardening supplies" which as a trade is absolutely true!
Very successful.

Call it "gift" or even better, "sample" if there is a box to check off.

Adam- I have some Yucca gloriosa (Tennessee seed) plants that I need to thin. You're welcome to one of them, if you like. I can't guarantee that they are true species gloriosa since they are seed grown AND have been hardy in zone 4b/5a.

Tim, I am looking for
Yucca Gloriosa green, yucca aloifolia green, and aloifolia purpurea (if it exists)
yucca recurvifolia and yucca trecueleana 'Canaliculata'
hoping for some cutting/offsets or seed grown a few years old
If you are cleaning up your beds, maybe you may have some from this list you wish to spare
I just hate to hear of yuccas going to the compost bin!
I have some others to trade out too for those interested

I had one miserable little Birmingham in my seedling collection. I think the thing had 2 leaves after 3 years (strap leaves). If it's still there you can have it.

Hi Adam
that trunk form of glauca looks really odd. Can you take a few other photos of it? It's cool looking. It's much different than my Y. glauca v stricta wihch is the Yucca on the left. It's a massive Yucca....that fence behind it is 6ft tall.
<img src=http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c309/ ... M01572.jpg>
PS:
There are loads of gloriosa/recurvifolia forms.....I must have 10 or so different types. Some aren't as hardy as others. Don't give up on them if the 'first' type dies on you.

Here is the Yucca glauca trunking I am keeping. I also have another with similar sized trunk and at least two others from the same parent plant available not yet trunking though.

This Yucca glauca trunking... not sure if it has a native range. Perhaps it is trunking only in cultivation as a result of hybridizing or natural selection.
I saved this bunch of glaucas from an out of control garden in front of a hi-rise apartment building. The other half of the grouping I left... got bulldozed the following spring.
I know of one other of this plant in the same neighbourhood. I am trying to work something out with the property owners to reduce its size and save it from the compost bin. Picture when I get out there.

There was the nicest clump of Yucca glauca with small trunks at a restaurant here in Toronto. The restaurant has closed and the Yucca has disappeared! It's not fair, I wanted to make it disappear!

I used to carry a shovel in the trunk...just for those "opportunities".

There's one here on campus by a neglected building that I might help to 'disappear'... I think the building is slated for demolition, so really I'll be doing them a favour... Right?

Adam "Seeds" - we need to connect as I live in Beamsville as well.
You have some awesome plants and I would like to chat with you about winter protection ideas...
I have 2 Trachy's that have overwintered the past 2 years and a Glauca that has overwintered the past 4 years.
All are doing great, and growing quickly.
I will be digging up a HUGE clump of my Yuccas - let me know if you want to save these from a non-existent future.
I will take some photos this weekend to share...

I used to carry a shovel in the trunk...just for those "opportunities".
I was thinking that's disappearing technics is our south european invention, but I'm wrong...ha haPaul Ont wrote:There's one here on campus by a neglected building that I might help to 'disappear'... I think the building is slated for demolition, so really I'll be doing them a favour... Right?

They all look very well grown Adam.
Which ones are in the PVC?
Obviously a deep rooting variety early on.

In the PVC "deep pots" i plant new Y. brevifolias to establish a good taproot... but these I tried were some Yucca glaucas. Glaucas do better in just a 6" pot.
A Y. brevifolia does well in the pvc tall pots, but BEST in a 10" pot, right from seed.
