I just got some seeds of Mexican feather grass, im going to start them soon, it's supposedly hardy in my area. They say they reseed often. I love the texture of it. I am sorry it died but at least you got a little seedling. I have trouble keeping things alive indoors unless they can survive in low light. I can keep common houseplants but anything special is prob. gonna die, I tried overwintering Lemon grass last year and it died major fail.
Barb, are they def. dead? or just still dormant? Leave them all outside next year. Amazing what ornamental grasses go through and still survive. We have a southern saw grass around the pond in the back and it comes back every year even after it looks like it wont! Could you try some bamboo? or would you try some bamboo I should say. I put in fargesia robusta clumping bamboo a year ago and it is beautiful,,,and easy to contain.
Yup I think they're definitely dead.
And that little guy growing in the pavement crack? It had a sibling that we removed and planted a week ago...it immediately croaked.
Yet the pavement one still lives.
Guess their roots are really sensitive to transplanting.
Igor, it was very dry in the cold building all winter.
I can't for the life of me figure out this plant.
But one thing if you do get one...don't put it near a path, even lightly brushing against it, you get all that grassy lint all over your clothes (like static).
Weird stuff, not worth me fussing over again.
Going into the compost.
