Anyone know what Species of Cacti this is, I received it from 2 cuttings sent to me 3 years ago from a guy in San Diego, CA. It's hardy here in zone 6b I have always had it in a pot, though last year I planted a cutting from it in the ground in regular clay soil and it's still alive. So it's very hardy. It's some kind of Opuntia thats all i know. If anyone thinks they know what species this is that would be great, thanks. These pics are from last year.
That looks like O. humifusa to me. I have some planted in my yard, as do several other board members. It's a really variable species, and is even native to the Point Pelee area of Ontario!
Might be O. macrorhiza... However, Opuntia taxonomy is, at best, a guessing game based on a few distinguishing characters... The clade is really poorly resolved!
