2nd warmest winter for Providence, Rhode Island (my area)

Post by TimMAz6 » Sun Mar 04, 2012 6:41 pm

NOAA just updated their web site and mentioned Providence, Rhode Island had their 2nd warmest winter since records have been kept (year 1905).

Note that Providence had an average low of 25F in January. I wish every winter was like that!

Hey Barb,

in February we only had 1.49 inches of precipitation and it was the 5th least ever recorded for February. That's probably your normal?? We also had 8.84 inches for the winter (Dec. thru Feb.) which was 2.53 inches below normal. That's almost your entire years total!

Excellent! 107 year record broken.
If global warming had to happen--and we all believe now that it does--we were hoping for warmer winters (not hotter summers).
Glad one good thing's coming out of the GW mess for you Tim.

Not the warmest winter on the BC Coast, but the capital city is still counting flowers:

Tim congrats on your mild winter. It sure makes it easy to sleep at night knowing yuccas and palms are fine. Barb I think this has to be one of the mildest winters we`ve had in the last ten years. Tulips started popping up here two weeks ago. Victoria is the early spring flower capital! :)

Excellent, Tim!
Tulsa records also go to 1905. We had our 9th warmest winter in that time.
Sure was nice. 85 F right now as I type this at 9:30 pm. Expected to get up into the 70s again tomorrow afternoon. All but six palms are out on the patio now.

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.
