No I don't remember who it was but I do remember the pics. He had some great looking big palm trees inside his house.

Erik, you didn't reply to comment(s) from 3 pictures of your indoor palm set-up.
How are they doing now?

Barb,
sorry--I've been busy and must have missed them.
Dining room palms---
Triangle palms: doing well; spears growing!
Caryota: fine, but no new growth.
Bismarckia: looks good. I adjusted the grow light to give it more. One of my cats has taken to using it to pee in, so I am trying to place stuff in there to discourage her.
Chamaedorea (eneresti-augustii, geonoformis): look good; spear on each opened to healthy looking new leaves while I was gone!
Roystonea: looking fine, but no growth
PDP: (left outside one night too many in October; spear pull) still there, but no signs good or bad.
Ballroom (=cool storage room with window and lights on timers) palms---
all look fine. I moved the big Washy closer to the window per your suggestion.
--Erik
P.S. check out my temps!

Excellent they're doing so well, Erik.
My palm hut door was open for several days during mild weather.
Now the interior smells like cat pee.
I don't have a cat.
Or:
Great temps! You weren't kidding when you said winter doesn't start till January in Oklahoma
Barb
That's an easy one...top dress with gravel, or, fist-sized rocks so soil isn't exposed. One of my cats has taken to using it to pee in,

Kent,
You have a beautiful Queen Palm there! I have found some up here in Omaha for sale, but I try and do some research on any new palm I buy. From what I've read on the internet, Queens reportedly grow really fast and require lots of sun and so aren't recommended as a indoor palm. If I bought one of these I would want it to be a indoor palm. I have high enough ceilings in two rooms, one faces the East, one the West.
What advice can you give me on owning a Queen? do you put yours outside in the summer? or keep it inside all the time? any advice would be a big help.

mine stays outside as soon as it's warm enough in spring time and comes inside when it gets cold in the fall. This year it was outside in late March and came inside last weekend, about 7 months outside. It spends the winter in an east facing room that has a large picture window and is very bright. It does not skip a beat when inside over the winter. Good luck with your palm.

foxtail
Those are beauties, aren't they? I got mine as a gift, but the local Home depot has them in 5 gallon pots for $35, marked down from $40.

PS to get back to the point of this thread, mine is back outside on the patio as we are in a warm spell now

Yet another new addition........
I can blame this purchase squarely on Oppalm! after seeing his Foxtail beauty at the beginning of this thread I knew I had to have one, yet I've never seen them sold here by any store, but thanks to Ebay found this for $6.95+shipping($14.95 total). Plant came with a root system every bit as long as the plant/stalk itself so very happy with purchase.
Wife asked me as we were making room for it if it was the last one (is there ever really a last one?)
While she is gone tomorrow I plan on getting a Bamboo Palm that I've seen at one of our local nursery's...

Perfect addition!
Decent price too.
Will W notice a (new) Bamboo Palm tomorrow evening?
Foxtail won't like the hot dry air from the vent, maybe turn it off? deflect it?
...then one day, it'll look like this:

I buy W a big pina colada and then she happily tunes me out as I explain coconut milk production etc.
Meantime you can enjoy the view. This photo of coconut palms was taken last December...
