Coyote visit

This youngster showed up today, certainly not shy.

How did your dog respond?
When coyotes would come to the farm to eat chickens, my dogs would be afraid unless I was outside to encourage them. Then they would run the coyotes off.

My dog was sound asleep inside, under the desk.

But she was quite the drama queen hours later when we walked past that area...sniffing every blade of grass, hackles up.

dogs would be afraid unless I was outside to encourage them.

Pets must know instinctively not to spar with a hungry wild animal.

Or they've heard 30 of them howling at night and don't want to mess with the other 29 later.

Barb we get the odd Coyote here. They come down the dry creek bed from the upper mountain areas. You probably have many more being that your property borders rangeland. Five years here now.I always know if there is a racoon or coyote near as my rottweiler goes ballistic that they have been or are near. They best move on to another area or she will deal with them!

Beautiful, I love yoties. But I prefer they stay out of my yard.

I had a husky/wolf that would play with them when he was younge, but as he got older would fight with them.

Mountain lions are the problem here,it gets
so bad sometimes you have to stay inside!

Four-legged cougars.

John, yes you're just close enough to wilderness that you see them on their paths to the lake.
I'm sure that spawning fish would be a real attraction for coyotes, but there's not much unoccupied lakefront left.
We have literally hundreds of Quail wandering around, all summer nesting in the junipers, etc.
They roost in our 8 foot high Fir hedge.
They'd make a good meal for a coyote, better than a puny mouse.

Wow, Aaron a husky/wolf, tell us more please.

I used to be a coyote, but I'm all right noowwwwwwww! (singing)

I don't know for sure what kind of dog he was, but husky/wolf like.

This is when he was older, and yes my wife is going to kill me for posting this pic. I love this pic and I miss him so much.

Love it when a dog leans/sits on their owner, so cute.

great photo. We get them here every now and then. I have not seen any for about a year now. Our area is not know for wildlife.
