What's your favorite yucca?

Post by Jay-Admin »

I like all yuccas and would love to grow all of em but I think i would have to say my favorite is Elata. Anyone growing Yucca whipplei? I have read they are hardy to a dry zone 6? This is one yucca i would love to grow. If anyone has any pics to show that would be great. :D Anyone else have any favorites?

Regards,
Jay

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Excellent pics of Plantasia Cactus Gardens! :toothy7: Looks like paradise to me. I actually drove through Twin Falls a couple of years ago on my way to Las Vegas. :D Does Twin Falls has the same climate as you? I'll have to check that place out next time i'm in the area. :D

Twin Falls is just alittle warmer, but not much. They are a zone 6 and I live in a zone 5b.
If you ever come down this way, get a hold of me and I will take you right to it :D

I bought a agave americana last spring. For the winter, I had it in a clear plastic garbage bag. It did quite well except for the tips that punctured the bag.. the tips were a little brown, but noticed a new shoot starting at the ground level.. (or whatever the offspring are called)

I have tried agave americana with no success in the past, but this year I will try again with a hardy americana ssp. (proto americana). I will see how well it does here?
So...Kyle what zone do you live in? I think that is cool that you can grow Agave americana :D You will have to keep us all posted on it success!
