Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Those poor palms look terrible

But the Sotol and Yuccas look fabulous, especially the two-header in front of the Gage Hotel.

Thanks for that interesting site Aaron.

Yea...the yuccas and other stuff did good :D but the palms look like toast, I'm going to keep looking for palm pics of survivers in the area.

PS, even the palms in tucson look like crap. :?

Aaron thanks for posting the site. I never tire of seeing the desert southwest. That huge Y. rostrata in front of the hotel must be at least 50 years old or more?

I was looking for more pics of palms that survived through the big chill of the south-west and found pics of a couple of w. robustas (Sierra Vista, AZ) that are growing new leaves after they seen 0f/-17.7C. That is very cool. I would post a link but was from a different forum. So there is lots of hope, however I did see some sad looking saguaros from another pic in the same town. :|

The biggest prickly-pears (Opuntia ficus-indica) not looking so good after the freeze, so mine at my place are most likely gone. :|
http://www.flickr.com/photos/threadedth ... 429338025/ I think after these were cleaned up they had some regrowth. :D

I can only hope the real grand ones in Tombstone dont look as bad. :)

Oh man!

How sheltered is that trailer park in Bisbee? I don't remember if it's between mountains or exposed?

Surprised at the extent of damage on the big washy filifera, but at least the newest spear is healthy.
And the little one had good shelter :D

I think its right before the mountain valley, but over 5000' in elevation and record cold its just amazing anything could live through the temps they seen. I think the two small palms could be robustas? Just amazing the palms that lived through that cold spell. :D
I hope to make it that way soon, just waiting on some friends to go with us. Can't wait to see how things look, now that theres hope. :D

At 5,000 feet, I'm impressed that anything survived this winter.

Robustas? I was hoping for filifera :? ('coz that's all I have).
Can't wait to see how things look, now that theres hope.
Thank goodness for that.
And with each year, yours will gain in hardiness...a nice welcome for your retirement! (or sooner) :bounce:
