Dammit barb, we still have a good foot and a half of snow on the ground ( tons melted today
4C in my back yard..).
But Its comming here too. If this weather holds ( give or take 5C), ill be able to get a good idea of how most things did through the winter. Im hopeing to unbury the bamboo early march...

Looks great Barb! You guys are definitely way ahead of us here in Jersey. Although, this week is supposed to finally bring warmer weather. They even said possibly 60 degrees by end of week! WooHoo! I can run in shorts again!!!!

Magnolia buds are a good sign of spring! It seems as if our last bit of cold weather is supposed to last until Wednesday, so hopefully soon after that spring will be on its way!

Same with us.....just hopefully not back to the general rule of teens and 20s for highs...UGH! It is so funny how people play Bball and jog in shorts and tees once the weather gets out of the 30s here. Your body gets so used to it I guess.lucky1 wrote:Hey, we're cooling off again next week...but baby steps will get us there![]()

Like the time I wore shorts in -20C LOL
The weather in Calgary is way dryer then im used to, so the heat doesnt feel as hot, and the cold, definelty isnt as cold.
So i put my hoodie on, walked to the bus stop..... wondering why everyone is dressed up to the teeth. I get to work, and everyone is yelling at me for being stupid. I thought it was -5C outside LOL. I wore shorts there, almost all winter !!

Juncos
I'm gratuitously posting so y'all see my weather sticker at 22 oC right now. +22 oC, I mean!
The main bird here on the farm right now is the junco (http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Dark-eyed_Junco/id).
I was laughing at them last week as they are a Canadian bird that flies down here for winter.
But I did make sure they had warm water to drink and plenty of food. They'll soon be flying back north. Welcome them home!

Very cool, everyone. Even though we can expect more cold and snow here in the east, it is nice to know that we are on the upswing! Supposed to be 67 here on Friday...going to Cape May NJ to check on the little summer place...YAY!

indoor palms outdoors (briefly)
Still no natural signs of spring way up here at 35 oN.
But the weather is great--as nice as late January was.
We took a few of the indoor palms and plants out on the patio for the afternoon and watered the heck out of them.
Here they are getting a little taste of what March and April will bring.

Your sticker reports 22C, that'd be good enough for me.Still no natural signs of spring
Good to get the plants out in those temps for a few hours.
We're cooling off for a week.

UGH is right, Mike.
So much for jogging, huh, unless you strap on snowshoes...
I wanted to start digging a new palm/yucca bed at the front of the house.
Told the yuccas they have to wait.
Winter's back...fortunately only a dusting of snow, but bloody cold again o'night.

i believe the problem was the timing of the storm and the ice under the snow fall. Plus, I live in NJ but teach in the city and the city has such small older streets that get piled up and immobile real quickly...! It's melting beautifully thought today...nice and sunny but back to 10 F tonightlucky1 wrote:Schools closed with only six inches snow?
