They look spectacular, Scotty, especially the one out front with no protection and lows of -15C 5F for 3 days.
Same with the aucuba, nice!
How's next door's oleander?

Hey Scotty,
Very beautiful plants, congrats! So, you had -15 C, eh? It was already kind of a good indication of what can be expected and they just sailed through it!
A have a question: Did I see it right that you had clear plastic wrapped around the Magnolias? If yes, how are you going to prevent them from cooking in Feb and March? Are you going to keep them protected inly in the most vicious part of winter?
Thanks in advance,
Rob

Thanks Barb! The Oleander is still kicking! Looks the same. Strange...
Rob.. Good question. Last year I removed the plastic on March 10th for that reason that it was getting to warm inside. Only the Brackens is totally wrapped. The others have openings to breath a bit. Depending on the winter I will remove the plastic at the beginning of March..

Everything looks great! What you should do next is line both side fences with needle palms/sabal minor!

I wish I could but some needles along the fence but I've been told I'm taking up too much of the grass!! haha...

Who needs grass at all... Just another chore, and it takes up valuable real estate that could be used for interesting plants!

Hey Scotty, I have a plan.
I used to mow ALL the lawns around here (hint, hint).
Then I quit, and let it grow.
Once we almost lost the dog (in it).
And it's a big dog.
The other person has to pick up the slack when the first person gets too busy to do it.
She'll be plantin' needles to reduce the lawn in no time.
You're welcome
