I just bought a couple of Cat palms yesterday and was wondering if anyone has tips, suggestions, comments and/or thoughts on these palms
I have one placed near a south facing window and the other in the opposite side of the same room about 17' from the window.
Thanks
Phil

These are tough palms and well suited to an indoor life, They tend to look their best in partial shade, ( Will be a darker green).
I froze one last year, cut it off at ground level and it resprouted
These are also able to be grown as an aquatic plant...at least according to this article,

I'm trying one out in a small water feature to see what happens.

Ah Ha. Thanks for identifying the half dead palm that was given to me this spring.
It is recovering nicely after spending the summer outside. Now all I have to do is find a good home for it. I need all of the room that I have for my hardy palm and yucca seedlings.

You don't have to be crazy to grow palms in Alberta..... But it helps
Update on palms
I've now had my palms in place for a couple of weeks and noticed that the one farthest from the window has a few yellow or dried out leaves while the plant closest to the window looks the same as it did when I bought. I'm not sure why the one further away is doing it ? Any ideas?
Thanks
Phil

These do prefer shade ~ So as long as it is getting some exposure that shouldn't be an issue.
Is there any drafts or heating ducts that might be drying it out?
These do prefer a moist mix, (see above
It may just be browning out a frond before pushing a new one.
Best of luck with it!
