A couple BLE's
Tiny Windmill Palm I planted from seed.
Palmetto I overwintered with a leaf wrap and no heat! This spot is colder than where I live since it's further from Lake Ontario. It looked dead in the spring but it's coming a long.

Dwarf palmetto is "minor" regular palmetto's don't usually get the heel unless they are super root bound. That's the easiest way to tell when it's in a pot for next time. You and Paul need to duke it out who's colder you or him.
Hey guys- FYI Scottys place on the lake is about 10km from mine... Maybe more like 5 if you could go straight across the lake!
I'd give the lake side the nod by 1/10 of a USDA zone over my place!
The Sabal minor there is performing similarly to the 'McCurtain' I planted a few years ago (it faced a colder winter than this one past)... It survived the first winter only to perish the next... A 'regular' minor next door perished the first winter!
Oh, and my long term T. fortunei is now officially dead. It was planted 4 (5?) years ago, survived 3 winters (or was it 4, I can't remember) with a wrapping, but finally succumbed this year. The needle next door also isn't showing any green, but I've not given up on it just yet.
It's sad when one you have had for a while goes,I came close this year
with my 2 oldest Trachys as you may know(the trunk cut one),I would have been seriously bummed
if I would had lost my 2 oldest,you just can't replace the years lost no matter how big a palm/no
matter what you replace it with!
I'm sorry, too. I lost two Trachies a decade ago (despite protection that had worked previous winters!) and was so upset I gave up on palms until three years ago. Keep trying. Palms are individuals. My cheap Home Depot Chamaerops has done great against all odds. --Erik

I'm glade to hear you still have your older sabal. Do you still have your needle palm too? We need some pictures from you! What about your basjoos?
To be clear- I have 2 palms remaining in the ground. A needle and a minor. These are protected with lights.
The other palms I was describing were all given burlap or frost cloth wrapping. These are the ones that hang on for a while (4 years for fortunei, 2 for minor, 4 for needle, 2 for chamherops, 0 for others) but perish after a few years. I wonder if a wrapping, some leaves, then another wrap, would be enough to overwinter more foliage?
Scotty- the things that impress me about your minor, given my experience in a similar climate: 1) It's not a northern source (or is it?) 2) It survived a winter that killed my palms that are only wrapped (needle and trachy)... Now you just have to get it through this coming winter!!!
