Here's some pictures from around the yard from a few days ago. Summer has be very nice in the Northeast this year and the plants and tree are loving it.
This is the front of my house, it's pretty close to the road and it attracts lots of curious people who want to now how a yard in New England can look like it belongs in the South.
One of the my three washies that endured the winter last year has exploded with huge growth this year, the crape myrtle was a little late flowering for some reason this year, it might have had to much nitrogen. It's full of flowers now so better late then never right.
As you can see the bark is really starting to flake off now, the cinnamon color is really nice looking.
Here's My three trachys, the one one the right has been in the ground for four years now and has really grown a ton, the trunk is just about 6 feet now. Just last week I did a little trimming so I could see the trunks better and cut off 30 fronds. Not to bad for Massachusetts, I like seeing the trunks much better I decided. In front of the trachys is a really nice sabal birmingham that I got from Gary in New Bern, It's put out three full fronds so far since Feb. it's faster then my minors? In front of that is a hardy pink oleander that also went through last winter, It's just about ready to flower now. Velutina in the background is doing very well and has flowered once so far, another is very close now.
This is looking into the backyard where I have some of the tropical plants I've been selling this year. The bananas in the back are 13 feet so far and growing faster and faster everyday, I'm hoping for a flower this year. I kinda have a little banana cave in between the patch that people love to look in. These washys are doing well to and they also went through last winter.
This is the west side of my house there's two tuscarora's there and some new basjoo nanas I got from Sean at Chilly Palms. There's also a large butia some more oleanders, indian hawthorns, and a 65 gal. minor on that side that I didn't get pictures of. Sorry!
In the driveway more stuff I have for sale, I need more land! Some butias, yellow nanas, gardenias, agristart nanas for next year, and a bunch more things.
That calidora on the wall is 7 feet plus, one of my favorites!
And to save some of the best for last my newly acquired princeps. Thanks so much Steve from N. Bama and Ryan from Texas!!! I can't wait to plant them when there big enough.
