Sounds like the guy that sold palms trees to the hotel in Iowa
Who would try to grow palm trees this far north?
I wonder if he has those far enough apart?

Good for him!
Wondered about that spacing myself, Jim
It'll be interesting to see if deer munch on them.
His comment "we can grow grapes, so we should be able to grow palms" was curious.
I'm at the northern extent of the Okanagan's grape-growing area, but I wouldn't try the Trachy without protection.
It'll be good to see how he fares.
Maybe he'll find PN and join us!

Went to see him today, doubt he'll find PN though. He is nit a tech savvy guy even in that he can barely master a digitalcamera and cellphone, and he makes no bones about it. i told him about the site and he laughed and said, "oh the internet" LOL Cool guy though, and amazing palms. He has a huge Bismarck palm planted in front of his house,lucky1 wrote:Good for him!

Great that you went to see him Mike.
Did you take a pic of that Bizzie?
And...didn't we all say at one time "oh, the internet!"

Well, we'll never know...since his aversion to the internet probably means he doesn't have a website.
Hopefully, Mike, you have reason to drive down there every year and keep us posted on how "the field" is doing.
Thanks!
