How old are they?

Post by Okanagan desert-palms » Mon Jun 12, 2006 3:09 pm

I bought two Butia capitata and one Mediteranean fan palm about a month ago. They were grown in full sun from California. How old would they would be? Any educated guesses out there? How long before they would need to be upgraded to a bigger box?

butia and chamaerops

I would say if they were grown here they would be around 10 maybe 12 years old but being from California they are probably 7 to 10.

I know the chamaerops has a long tap root so it will need a deeper box in a couple of years. I am not sure about the butias.

By the way nice palms!!!!

Where did you get them and how much did you pay for them if you don't mind me asking?

Boxed palms

Wes that makes sense as to how old they are. I bought them from a place here in Kelowna called the flower farm.Obviously more than just flowers there. I paid $349.00 ea. I won`t plant them but will enjoy them just the same. I plan on planting some T. fortunei T.takil? in the future when they are a little larger. Thanks for your comments.
