Recently back from Nola...great trip, always a fun and lively city in spite of the sadness and tradgedies that seem to thrive there...here are a few palm pics.

Mike,
nice pictures!
My first (and hopefully not last) trip to NOLA was in March of last year.
We stayed in a hotel in the Garden District and walked the surrounding streets to admire the old gardens.
In addition to the palms, I was astounded to see gingers and bananas that had seemingly overwintered with intact foliage.
Despite their recent calamities, it sure made me tempted to move further south.

Thanks for the comments. It is a beautiful city. And i love the food! I could eat rabbit and alligator every day of the week. The flowers, bushes, palms etc... are all amazing. I came home and laughed when I saw my poor excuse for a cycad...LOL

OK, gotta ask since I can't figure it out from the photos.
Where is Nola?

I just know it's not next door, based on the gorgeous specimens they grow

Barb,
great question!
I did not know where NOLA was, either, until I got there and only then realized that the folks there referred to their own city as "NOLA."
It is an acronym for, "New Orleans, Louisiana" where the U.S. post office abbreviates Louisiana as "LA". As in, the airport taxi driver asked if this was our first time to, "nola." Imagine my confusion.
I saw lots of plants I think of as zone 10 in the "Garden Quarter" down along the river. A very nice place to visit in March.

Indeed it is a great place to visit for the food, history, music, palms and whatever else floats your boat...
PS Barb, Put a few pics up of my rising yucca as requested...enjoy.

Great pictures Mike!

I've really been wanting to go there for many years now. On of these days I'll make it.

I had guessed that NOLA might be New Orleans from the lovely architecture, and the earlier comment about all of the sadness there.
It's a spot that I'd like to visit...the friendly people, food and music alone sound so enticing, let alone the gardens.
Cool acronym, kind of like LA LA land for Los Angeles

Yes Mike I'm also not getting email notifications any more.
My browser is Firefox and "stuff" has been acting strange since the last update.
I've checked my Profile here and it's still requesting email notifications, Jay says there's nothing wrong at webmaster's end.
