Nice collection Mike.

Everything looks great!

Looks like you have quite a bit to protect. How many are staying in the ground and being protected this year?

My hat off to you.

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Nice collection you have there Mike! Did you have access to the car wash last year to store your potted palms or is that new this year? How do you feel your insulated boxes worked last winter? Did you heat them? I love the Christmas palm too!

Looking great!

Bill I used the car wash at work to hold my bismak and some bananas. I will being sticking the christmas palm and the queen and an few others in the car wash. The insulated boxes work like magic. I had 4 or 5 spiral lights in them and that was it for heat. Trick to using the insulated box is keeping it air tight. I wrapped mine in plastic and stapled it tight.

Jim The butia in the ground got burned last year and never recovered. I have a new one to replace it next year. I was told the cactus wouldnt make it and the agave would and it was reversed for me. The agave rotted and cactus is growing out of control. I have regular opuntia humifusa and opuntia machrohiza both need no protection. The yucca rostrata just has dry tips at the end of each winter. and I also have Opuntia fragilis and opuntia imbricata growing no protection really needed just a cover from rain

Mike by spiral light do you mean the screw in florecents? If yes how many watts were they? One more question did you keep track of the temperatures in the boxes?

Thanks Mike I'm trying to come up with something for my oleanders and gardenias.

Windmill Palm guy yes they flower every year. Thats how I know I have a male and a female.

Bill yes the spiral florecent ones. They say 27 watts each but they are supposed to put out the same light as a 100 watt. I put two or three at the base of the trunk so heat would rise and 2 glued to the top of the enclosure kind of hanging about the palm. I had the weather channel sensor set up from home depot. It got down to the low 40's at night and upper 80's on a sunny day. It has to be completely air tight. I had one palm that wasnt and it froze to death.
