Bonsai palm tree.

Post by Eriktampabay »

Has anyone tried bonsai on palm trees? I have seen several different kinds on the internet. Does anyone out there have any pointers in doing this process with a seedling.

Well here is a couple photos I have found. I have had a couple people tell me they have tried it with no luck. Any pointers would be helpful. Here are a few photos of what I have found on the net. Ponytail palm, Sago palm, And a few large ones I found
near Bonneveine, Provence-Alpes-Côte dʼAzur (France)

One of the palms society guys here has a Trachycarpus fortunei that is about 20 years old or close to it. It's been bonsai'd and is no more than about a foot tall. For the life of me I have no idea what he's done with it other than when I've seen it he'd used a bonsai pot (wide and shallow).

Cheers, Barrie.

By any chance did he tell you what the proper age is to start the bonsai process. I think I am going to give it a try. I guess I have to much time on my hands in the winter.

Erik ... I beleive it was started rather young, sometime after the palmate leaves formed.

Cheers, Barrie.
