Dean ... just regular old garden variety, Musa basjoo. Periodically the pseudostems don't die back in winter and they retain their height, then pick up from where they left off the previous autumn. This allows for big plants and these are near 14' presently.
As for Australian plants, I'd like to experiment with more of them in the future. Any (or most) I've tried are great additions and seem right at home.
