On the left we have the famed Sabal minor 'McCurtain'; on the right, a regular Sabal minor. This winter will be the first test for these plants. Both are planted about 6" off the south foundation in a cold northern zone 4b/5a location. They will be given the same protection (likely mulch and a leaf wrap) then left to fend for themselves. Does McCurtain deserve its reputation as the hardiest form of minor? Does it truly grow faster? Only time will tell!
