2 - Dwarf Palmettos FOR SALE in Michigan

Post by palmmandan »

FOR SALE For any Michigan Folks on here I have 2 Dwarf Palmettos (Sabal Minors) That are cold Hardy to 5F. They are 3 feet tall each. These would cost you $150. for these specimens on most nursery sites + shipping. I bought them and found out they are not big sun worshippers. I really don't have many places to put them where there is no sun. These like shady areas in the summer and moist soil. I would like to get $100. per Plant. Plus you pick them up.

Who told you that ? Minors do fine in full sun. They are weeds down here & grow just as well in sun or shade.

Those are chamaerops humilis not sabal minor. These do like full sun but are not hardy below zone 8 without protection. They develop multiple trunks and have very sharp spines. Nice palms though.

Nice, but I could get the same thing (Mother with 2-3 pups, C. Humilis) at my local K-Mart for $19.99!

I'll save my money.

Yes, first Sabal Minors DO LOVE unfiltered, hot sun. And second those in the pics are definatly NOT Sabal Minor but rather Med Fan (chamaerops humilis) and yes, even in a zone 5, we can pick those up at Wal Mart for $20.00 here too.
If you say you would like to get $100 for those, I first would have to question the guy that sold them to you and how much he charged you.

I sure can't get them at Walmart, Home Depot or Canadian Tire here. At Elllersley Nursery we may be able to get them this summer but the cost will be way over $150.

I hope that it wasn't TYTY that sold them to you and you can get a partial refund.

Wow!!!! I thought I had Dwarf Palmetto's here. I bought them from Aarons Nursery which I think is affiliated with TyTy.

Well, they went into the ground today.

Sorry about the confusion. I was not trying to trick anyone.

Not sure but from your photos, it looks like the Meds also have scale.
